Preparing for your 30 minutes mini newborn session

Writer's picture: Crystal RobertsCrystal Roberts

A 30-minute newborn session is a beautiful opportunity to capture sweet, timeless moments of your baby. To make the most of this time, a little preparation goes a long way. Here’s how to set your baby up for success:

Arrive with a Full and Sleepy Baby

To maximize the session, ensure your baby is well-fed just before leaving for the studio. A full tummy helps them relax and settle into a peaceful slumber.

Keep Them Awake Before the Session

While it’s tempting to let your little one nap all morning, keeping them awake for a little while before the session can make a big difference. Try giving them a bath, tickling their toes, or gently playing with their hands to keep them engaged. This way, they’ll be ready for a deep sleep once they’re swaddled in the studio.

Calm but Awake is Okay Too

If your baby is awake but calm, we can still capture beautiful swaddled and over-the-head shots. Sleep is ideal, but a calm baby allows for precious wide-eyed moments that you’ll treasure forever.

What We Can Achieve in 30 Minutes

A sleeping baby allows us to work quickly, potentially even posing them on the bean bag for those classic newborn shots. If they’re awake, we’ll adapt to their cues, focusing on poses that highlight their sweet expressions and tiny details.

By taking a few simple steps before the session, we can ensure the experience is smooth and the results are stunning. Every moment with your newborn is fleeting, and we’ll capture it beautifully, no matter what.
